Glamour
As stated in the textbook glamour is “in the use of well-known celebrities to sell products and in the depiction of models who appear to be happy, without flaws, and satisfied.” The presence of glamour leads to envy by surrounding people. In “How to Get Ahead in Advertising” glamour is shown when the main female character is complaining to the other woman about how her husband is completely obsessed with sex. She says that he is out of his mind and can’t really take it anymore. Because the other woman thinks she is much more “glamorous” than her, she goes and tells a perfect stranger all of the leading female’s business. This envy is caused by the amount of “glamour” the main character appears to have. Even though she is complaining that he is making her miserable she feels that the woman has a lot more to be happy about than herself.
